Here's What's Happening in Second Grade for the Month of April

FAMILY EASTER EGG DECORATING PROJECT-You may use any materials you like to decorate the egg. Projects due no later than Friday, April 4, 2003.

IOWA TESTING- Week of March 31st - April 4th.

PIG WEEK CELEBRATION- Week of March 31st - April 4th. Pig activities will be done after testing. These activities are fun and relaxing yet educational and relieve the stress of testing. Each child is asked to bring in at least one item for our class pig pen. This can be something they already have at home or something they make to bring in.

CENTRE COUNTY LIBRARY TRIP - Thursday, April 3rd. No "AT HOME BOOK PROJECT"

WEEK OF APRIL 14th-16th - We will be doing a mini-unit on Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit. On Monday,we will make a Peter Rabbit theater which will be used to retell the story. On Tuesday,we will emulate Ms. Potter's style of illustrating by sketching an animal in a natural setting and then painting it with watercolors.Each child will need to bring in a stuffed animal. On Wednesday, we will dye eggs. Each child will need to bring in 1 hard boiled egg.

GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION - This event is planned for Friday, April 25th. If your child's grandparents cannot attend, they may invite an "older" friend. If they still have no one who can attend they will be "adopted" for the day by an attending grandparent. All grandparents are invited to the school mass at 9:00a.m. and then back to the classrooms for refreshments and visiting until 10:30. I would like to set up a grandparents gallery of photographs. I would like to have 1 or 2 photos of your child with their grandparents to display. Please send pictures no later than April 21st. They will be returned to you.
